The low reverse one way clutch in a 6r80 is described as a brake clutch that holds the rear planetary carrier in one direction and allows it to freewheel in the opposite direction which eliminates engine braking in 1st gear when the transmission is in DRIVE. So what does this mean for you and your high performance build? 

It means that the factory sintered pieces are at higher risk of failing once you get north of the 800rwhp mark. The one way has been found to fail along side of the main shaft in most cases. Wheel hop and hard shifts contribute to its demise. Adding a billet steel replacement from Bluestreak performance will eliminate it from being a week point in the transmission. The tighter clearances, superior manufacturing, and upgraded material all add up to a solid upgrade for your 6r80 transmission. 

Our version of this component comes assembled with the oem components needed for installation. Traditionally it is sold without them and require the parts of the used assembly.
